I never really thought booking wrestling seemed that hard. Of course I've never done it so maybe I'm oversimplifying it in my head, but it never really came across as difficult as wrestling companies make it. This match was really all the proof I needed that I was wrong.
As for the match, it was fine. It was the most invigorated Brock performance in years and despite my wwe viewership dropping to near zero I always try and check out his matches. They haven't been very good lately, but the aura of Brock always sucks me back in. He came into this match seemingly dedicated to not actually do his usually moves routine and it worked really well. Brock doing hyper exaggerated selling and then the mad chair beatdown on Braun was fun.
I'm usually against putting play by play in these at all but I think I need to to really get how great this was over. Before the match started Braun came out and declared he would challenge whoever won the match because he isn't a coward (Despite still waiting to challenge an already beat down man). After Brock tool a few spears and powerbombs he rolled out of the ring and started beating Braun down with a chair and hurled the money in the bank briefcase down the apron to end Braun's hope of cashing in on that night. After that, Brock rolled back into the ring and Roman speared him from behind while he admired the work he did to take Strowman out to get a banana peel win.
This was art. And not the dumb gymnastics routine art or the staring at my hand wondering how I am so violent art either. I have nothing but respect for the sheer willpower it must have taken to figure out an ending that managed to make Strowman look like a complete geek, give Roman the big win he has been due for over three years in the least dignified way possible and manage to keep Brock as strong as possible despite losing and likely ending his WWE tenure for the time being. For a company that seems to bungle the most basic of tasks they did this perfectly.
I tried to fantasy book the funniest way to end this show all day and nothing I came up with was a fraction as funny as what they actually did.
